Description: “Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers.” — Shakuntala Devi The school in collaboration with our esteemed academic partner AdvAcad Solutions organised the Annual Calculation Event in the School Auditorium on 12th December. The event comprised a series of intellectually stimulating competitions that showcased the prowess of our students. The headline events included the highly anticipated Calculation Championship - Final Round, the Vedic Maths Inter-House Quiz, the Ambidexterity Race, the Sutra Writing - Calligraphy Competition, and the creative Flash Card Drawing Competition. In a thrilling face-off during The Vedic Maths Inter-House Quiz, Tagore House (Red) emerged triumphant, demonstrating unparalleled calculation speed and a profound understanding of Vedic Mathematics. The Calculation Championship - Final Round saw selected students engage in a traditional pen-and-paper assessment, putting their calculation skills to the ultimate test. The Vedic Maths Sutra Writing Calligraphy Competition was a testament to the artistic flair and linguistic dexterity of our students. Participants creatively transcribed one of the Sixteen Sanskrit Sutras derived from Atharva-Veda, showcasing their mastery in calligraphy and linguistic translation. Adding a touch of ambidextrous finesse, the Ambidexterity Race witnessed students showcasing their exceptional ability to write with both hands. At Columbus Public School, we firmly believe that 'Both Hands are Right’, and this competition was a delightful affirmation of that belief. Our junior scholars enthusiastically contributed to the event by submitting Abacus Flash Cards, embodying the philosophy that ‘Every Number has a Face’. A special acknowledgment goes to the dynamic team from Advacad Solutions, led by Tarik Chhabra and Pradeep K Rao (Co-Founders, Advacad) and Pankaj Chamoli (Operations Head, Uttarakhand). Also, our heartfelt gratitude to Milli Agrawal, our dedicated Abacus & Vedic Maths trainer, for her unwavering support, supervision, and motivation that ensured the success of the event. The event not only celebrated mathematical acumen but also fostered a spirit of creativity, collaboration, and a passion for learning.
